UK - England to Wales

The bridge you see here was not the first bridge across the Severn River linking Wales on this side with England on the other. A railway bridge was built near this site in 1879. It was used for many years before being strengthened to be able to carry road traffic as well. That was never completed as in 1960 disater struck. Two large freighters collided in heavy fog and with the amazingly strong tide in the river, were forced into two piers of the bridge bringing them down. That bridge was never repaired and was demolished sometime later. We continue our journey into southern Wales in our Next Album 36.
